Documentation on research practices for development of Statement of Problem 2
Introduction
Both qualitative and quantitative data would be used to analyze the aspect relate to the state sleeping in
a rough manner is concerned. As a result, the mixed methods research or multi-methodology has been
taken into consideration for the same (Metraux and Tseng, 2017). The mixed methods research would be
considered since it would help in the derivation of the solutions to the problems in a comprehensive
manner along with the aspect of lucidity for all kinds of readers. Both numerical and literary concepts
associated with the research would be analyzed by the virtue of multi-methodology. It would help in the
derivation of the desired outcomes. The approach regarding the mixed methods research would be the
collection and analysis of both primary and secondary data. It would not only involve the literary sources
available online or in the library but also the statistics thereby leading to the research in an in-depth
manner accordingly. Such a problem is prevalent at the global level thereby implying the laxity in schemes
relating to the welfare of homeless people accordingly. As a result, it is imperative that the issue in terms
of rough sleeping needs to be resolved at the earliest.
Kinds of research methods
The three kinds of research methods imply qualitative research, quantitative research and mixed methods
research. The aspect of qualitative research implies the analysis of various kinds of meanings and
definitions of the concepts to be dealt with and delved into in an in-depth manner. The aspect of
quantitative research implies the collection and analysis of numerical data, most notably in the form of
statistics. The aspect of mixed methods research implies that both qualitative and quantitative data are
to be blended in the desired manner in order to comprehend upon the concept accordingly which would
be quite suitable for the research concerning rough sleepers in Australia (McKim, 2017).
Conceptual analysis
As a far as Australia is concerned, homeless people are present in Sydney and Melbourne to a huge level
taking account of their influx at a skyrocketing rate. Most of these people belong to the indigenous
communities as a result of their treatment in a derogatory manner. The economic conditions of homeless
people are also quite deplorable. They do not have access to proper housing as a result of their financial
status accordingly. Poverty and unemployment are the major causes of homelessness in Australia. There
has been a huge rise amongst homeless people in Australia off late. The inflation in house prices have also
resulted in homelessness amongst the masses. Older women are at a very high risk of being homeless as
they receive very less old age benefits in comparison to men. Homeless people sleep on the streets, in
cars, pavements and dwellings. Various kinds of efforts are being made by the government and its
concerned authorities along with charitable Organisations. However, no significant improvement for the
conditions of homeless people has been made. As a result, it is recommended that the issues concerning
homeless people in Australia need to be addressed at the earliest. In this regard, analysis needs to be
conducted in a detailed manner thereby leading to the comprehensive solutions being provided to the
homeless people in Australia. The welfare schemes need to cover the whole Australia as far as the federal
level is concerned. In this regard, the beneficiaries should be the rough sleepers as far as providing a
proper shelter is concerned. It would help in the social benefits in the manner as purported so. The states

and territories of Australia may also undertake the necessary steps as far as the mitigation of the problems
for rough sleepers in the purported manner is concerned. It would help in the benefits at state and
territorial level in a significant manner since the authorities would be specifically aware about the issues
concerning rough sleepers in the respective states and territories. In this regard, Victoria and New South
Wales have to adopt such kinds of specific strategies due to the huge number of rough sleepers in
Melbourne and Sydney respectively. It would help in the assessment of scenarios in a proper manner
thereby leading to the formulation and implementation of policies. As a result, the application of the
mixed methods research would be quite helpful as it would lead to the derivation of viable outcomes
thereby presenting the approach to be undertaken in order to deduce comprehensive solutions
(McCusker and Gunaydin, 2015).
Conclusion
It can be concluded by stating that sleeping rough is a huge problem in the urban cities of Australia as far
as Sydney and Melbourne are concerned. Therefore, action needs to be undertaken with regard to the
addressing of such issues. It is observed that the mixed methods research would play the key role in the
analysis of the problems of rough sleepers in Australia thereby leading to the results in a comprehensive
manner. It would also aid in the conceptual and numerical research for rough sleepers in Australia in an
effective manner. As a result, the steps and measures to be undertaken would be considered thereby
resulting in the solutions for such people in the form of various kinds of welfare schemes as mentioned
earlier. Therefore, it is inferred that mixed methods research would be the most suitable form of research
in terms of the derivation of the solutions for the of rough sleepers in Australia in the desired manner as
far as the aspect of welfare is concerned. In a nutshell, the data needs to be collected and subsequently
analyzed with respect to the needs of rough sleepers in Australia, moist notably Sydney and Melbourne.
